Meet the "Veddah" community - Sri Lanka's Indigenous communities that have lived on the island for Millenia.

Hi, I’m Manadilani, founder of Untamed Sri Lanka Tours.

My name, given to me by my father who has a deep love for local literature, means "shining mind" in Sinhala, our native language. In Sri Lanka, my friends call me Mana, and my Aussie mates know me as Mandi – feel free to use whichever feels right to you!

I was inspired to create Untamed Sri Lanka Tours out of my deep love for my island home and a desire to share its beauty, stories, and hidden treasures with discerning travellers. The goal is to offer journeys that go beyond the usual tourist paths, revealing the quieter corners, cultural gems, and natural wonders that make Sri Lanka unforgettable.

Born in Sri Lanka and moving to Australia at eighteen, my heart has always remained anchored to the island. I return every year, drawn by its untamed landscapes, timeless stories, and the sense of peace found in its lesser-known places. Over the years, I’ve explored far beyond the typical tourist routes, hiking through remote jungles, connecting with village communities, and uncovering the quiet magic that lives off the beaten path.

Through my work in eco-tourism and nature conservation across Sri Lanka, I’ve built strong relationships with local experts and English-speaking guides. Together, we ensure every journey is immersive, authentic, and thoughtfully crafted, giving travellers the opportunity to experience Sri Lanka deeply, responsibly, and meaningfully.

This isn’t about ticking off landmarks or capturing the perfect Instagram shot.

It’s about slowing down, travelling consciously, and truly connecting with the spirit of Sri Lanka.

If that sounds like your kind of journey, explore our tours or get in touch to design your own.
